The annual basket auction, held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, is planned for 1 p.m. Sunday.
For over 15 years, baskets have been donated for attendees to purchase. This year there will be several pieces of jewelry for sale, both from an estate and private donations. Over 30 baskets are usually available for purchase. Items range from baked goods, decor, children’s items, and more.
“We never know what we are going to get, there is something for everyone,” said one of the organizers, Joan Gray.
A traveling suitcase, originated by former church member, Mary Sankovitch is filled and opened after purchase. The suitcase purchaser then returns it the following year filled with new items.
Basket donations are accepted until noon on Sunday.
Auctioneer Tom Wulff will call the auction Sunday.
Proceeds from the auction benefit the BackPack Program for school-age children, and Riverways Pregnancy and Family Resource Center each year. In 2018, about $4,000 was raised.
The church is located at 103 S MacArthur.
