A Salem woman is facing two sex crime felonies in Phelps County, according to documents filed in circuit court.
Gracie N. Maynard, 22, is charged with two counts of first-degree statutory rape or attempted statutory rape - person less than 14 years of age. She was incarcerated in the Phelps County Jail with no bond issued.
The case’s probable cause statement alleges Maynard engaged in illegal sexual activity with one victim on May 29 and another on May 30. Both victims are quoted as making that allegation in the statement. Maynard is also quoted as admitting to the offenses.
The charges for which Maynard was arrested are merely accusations and are not evidence of guilt. Evidence supporting the charges must be presented before a court of competent jurisdiction whose duty is to determine guilt or innocence.
