According to reports from Salem Police Department:
• No injuries were reported in an 11:46 a.m. Oct. 3 crash, at the intersection of Gertrude and Highway 32. A 2017 Ford Escape SE, driven by Tina Collins, of Houston, was eastbound in the outer lane of Highway 32, approaching Gertrude. A 2009 Pontiac G6, driven by Sara Pollard and owned by Whitaker’s Auto Body, was eastbound in the inner lane of Highway 32. The Pontiac changed lanes and made contact with the Ford, a witness confirmed. Both vehicles sustained moderate damage and were moved prior to the officer’s arrival.
• A two-vehicle crash occurred 3:57 p.m. Sept. 30 at the intersection of Highway 32 and MacArthur. Diana Grohs, of Imperial, was traveling westbound on Highway 32 in a 2014 Chevrolet Equinox. Gary Hanning was stopped at a red light on MacArthur, and began entering the intersection, in a 2015 Chevrolet Equinox. Grohs collided with Hanning in the intersection. Hanning continued onto Highway HH and pulled in the AutoZone parking lot. Grohs’ vehicle sustained extensive damage, and Hanning’s was moderate. No injuries were reported. Both vehicles were towed from the scene by Whitaker’s Towing.
• A 2017 Chevrolet Camaro, driven by Lawrence Sherril, was traveling northbound on Highway 72 at 6:39 a.m. Sept. 22. One-half mile past J Highway (Rolla Road), he collided with a deer running across the road. No injuries were reported, and the vehicle sustained minor damage.
• An unknown driver of a GMC Rally was traveling east in the Walmart parking lot at 1:15 p.m. Sept. 19. Shirley Booker, of Licking, was on a Walmart scooter traveling east along the sidewalk in front of the store. She swerved left, into the path of the GMC. The front passenger’s side bumper struck Booker’s left elbow. She received minor injuries. Both vehicles sustained no apparent damage.
