A St. Robert man faces two felony offenses in connection to the child sex trafficking case that’s led to charges filed against three other defendants, according to documents filed in circuit court.
Ulysses Tallie, born 1974, is charged with counts of second-degree sexual trafficking of a child and first-degree statutory rape or attempted statutory rape - person less than 12 years of age. His bond was set at $300,000.
Two St. Robert women were charged Oct. 19 on charges alleging they’d been facilitating the prostitution of a 13-year-old girl, according to the case’s probable cause statement. Emma Marie Simpson, born 2004, and Danika Marie Gillen, born 1995, were taken into custody after the 13-year-old girl was found in the 14000 block of State Route Z in St. Robert. Court documents filed in those cases allege the 13-year-old girl was in possession of items of a sexual nature and marijuana paraphernalia. A search of the residence located numerous baggies containing a crystalline substance as well as a syringe containing liquid. The 13-year-old further tested positive for marijuana, methamphetamine and ecstasy.
During an interview with officers, the statement says Gillen told a detective the 13-year-old had sex with Tallie. A search of Simpson’s phone also found a text thread from Aug. 11 between her and Tallie during which they discussed money, getting high, and payments of $50 for 15 minutes. A second text thread from Oct. 12 was found between Simpson and the 13-year-old girl. During that exchange Simpson tells the juvenile she’ll discuss “the wedding” with her grandmother but she “don’t even know who you be around.” The statement says Simpson then posted a picture of Tallie’s sex offender registry.
The statement says Tallie was taken into custody Oct. 30 on a warrant charging him with failure to register as a sex offender in Pulaski County. During an Oct. 30 interview, Tallie is quoted in the statement as saying he knew the 13-year-old girl but hadn’t had sex with her.
Simpson and Gillen are each charged with one felony count of second-degree sexual trafficking of a child. A St. Robert man, Kaleb H. Gibson, born 2000, is also charged with felony counts of second-degree sexual trafficking of a child and first-degree statutory rape or attempted statutory rape. Court documents filed in his name allege Gibson had previously filed a report with law enforcement alleging the same 13-year-old girl had taken his firearm and the two had been in a relationship. It notes Gibson said he believed she was 18 years old.
A probable cause statement filed in Gibson’s case states a detective with the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Department and investigator with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security followed up with Gibson and interviewed him in reference to his relationship with the 13-year-old girl. The statement quotes Gibson to say the two met through an online dating site, she began visiting him at his home, and he began paying her money. When asked how many times they’d had sex, the statement says Gibson raised his hands and spread his fingers symbolizing the number 10.
The charges described above are merely accusations and are not evidence of guilt. Evidence in support of the charges must be presented before the court of competent jurisdiction whose duty is to determine guilt or innocence.
