The Dent County Commission put the culvert installation project at turtle loop out to bid during Thursday’s regular meeting in the Dent County Courthouse. The project will be utilizing Title II federal land grant funds. Bids are due by 10 a.m. Sept. 19. Contact the Dent County Clerk’s office for bid specifications.
• Also at the meeting, the commission voted 2-0 (presiding commissioner Darrell Skiles was absent) to accept a $1.999 per gallon propane bid of FerrellGas for an estimated 3,500 gallons. No other bids were submitted.
• Next, the commission voted 2-0 to accept the $3.10 for 1,000 gallons of gasoline for the road and bridge department. County Fuels submitted a $3.23 per gallon bid and MFA submitted a $3.43 per gallon bid. According to commissioners, the county will still need to put out for diesel bids.
• District One Commissioner Wes Mobray (who presided in Skiles’ absence) reported that he has crews grading on county roads 6240 and 5150, and hauling brush on 6460.
• District Two Commissioner Gary Larson reported that he has crews grading on 4410, 5325, 5320, 4405, 4050, 4480 and 4010, and hauling material to 4437, 4010, 4050, 4480 and 4353. He also reported that crews will be clearing brush on 2300 (where the Dent County Commons is located) in preparation for the Salem Chamber of Commerce Rodeo over Labor Day Weekend.
The commission did not meet on Monday, and the courthouse was closed in observance of Labor Day. The next regularly scheduled meeting will be Sept. 8 at 9 a.m. in the Dent County Commission office at the courthouse.
