A 14-year-old Cuba boy was killed and three other teenagers seriously injured as a result of a one-vehicle crash that occurred on five miles north of Cuba on Oak Hill Road in Crawford County, according to an online report of Troop I of the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
Lane Bridgeman,14, was declared deceased at the scene by Crawford County Coroner Darren Dake at 1:22 a.m. Sunday.
The report states Bridgeman was southbound at 12:35 a.m. Sunday operating a 2004 Dodge Ram when it began skidding, travelled off the left side of the roadway, overturned and then struck a tree before coming to rest.
Three Dodge passengers received serious injuries. They include Luke Bridgeman, 14, of Cuba; Drew Thomas, 15, of Steelville; and Devon Watring, 12, of Cuba. All three were flown by Air Evac to Children's Hospital St. Louis for treatment.
The Dodge sustained total damage and was removed from the scene by Chris & Son Towing.
The Crawford County Sheriff’s Department, North Crawford County Ambulance, Cuba Fire Department and Bourbon Rural Fire Department also responded to the scene. This incident is Troop I’s fourth fatal crash for August and the 25th for 2019.
