Christa Bobinger donated her 160th unit of blood Sept. 1, making her total donations 20 gallons. A blood donor must wait eight weeks between donations, so this represents many years of giving. As usual the First Baptist Church was the sight of The Community Blood Drive. The Community Blood Center of the Ozarks registered 44 willing donors and collected a total of 39 units of blood. Prospective donors must be at least 16 years of age (with parent consent), weigh 110 pounds and be in good health. All donors receive a free t-shirt after their donation. Those interested in donating can check the website CBCO.org for more information and restrictions about donating. The Salem community blood drive is known for its delicious snacks that reward blood donors for their donation. The United Methodist women graciously served ham salad and tuna salad sandwiches, along with a wonderful assortment of homemade cookies.
