A Bunker man had a three-felony warrant issued for his arrest Sunday in connection to pulling a gun on a woman and then attempting to run her over south of Rolla. Kane A. Benton, 19, is charged first degree robbery, armed criminal action and unlawful use of a weapon. His bond has been set at $500,000. The Phelps County Sheriff’s Department reports Benton is currently not in local law enforcement custody.

According to the case’s probable cause report, a deputy with the Phelps County Sheriff’s Department responded Sunday to the intersection of Highway 72 and Phelps County Road 5420 on a report of an armed robbery. The deputy found a woman who reported Benton had pulled a gun on her while she was in his truck and placed it against her head. She said Benton then demanded the she remove all the items from her pockets, including her cell phone, car keys and money clip. She said Benton then threw her from the truck to the ground and attempted to run her over and he left the scene.
