The Dent County Commission met Monday. Presiding Commissioner Darrell Skiles reported he participated in the Ozark Rivers Solid Waste Management District council meeting and heard about various grants, Thursday afternoon. In addition, he participated in a virtual TAC meeting and heard from representatives from each county on the top four transportation needs. All TAC members, including three reps from each county, voted to prioritize those needs, and identified the first is replacement of the bridge on Hwy TT. The other is for the Standing Rock Bridge to be replaced. Dent County has two out of the top three needs. The county would like to see MODOT address these.
The Commission approved the following CARES Act fund applications as follows: All Accounted For $15,888.18; Skelton Fabrication $50,000; KSMO Enterprises $2,968.17; Oak Grove Baptist Church $2,681.98; Dent County Health Center $17,985.49; Plank Investments $50,000; Curley & Co Salon $10,670; Cornerstone, Inc. $4,210.98; Williams American Construction Inc. $50,000; SACBA $13,052.55; Wisdom Drug, LLC $50,000; Montauk Rural Fire $1,590.00; and Vogue Family Hair Care $4,024.52.
Skiles also reported he received good news; the rural digital internet federal fund was awarded to expand internet. Dent County will receive $7.4 million to expand internet services. There will be more information at a later time.
• Sherry Lea with Council for a Healthy Dent County came in to discuss the renewal for Dent County Rural Addressing Contract. The contract is $12,000 per year. The commission approved the contract.
• District One Supervisor Rodney Atkinson reported the crew will be grading on 5610, 5615, 6630, 6633, 4215, 4210, brush cutting on 5620 and hauling rock to 6630 and 6633, weather permitting.
• District Two Commissioner Gary Larson reported that the crew will be grading on 3330, 3350, hauling material to 3330, brush cutting on 4030, 4330, and servicing grader #31.
• Denita Williams, Treasurer reported sales tax received for the month for general revenue as $83,644.84. up from last year 5.70 percent.
• Matt Presti visited the meeting about the political rally event held Saturday. He reported it went well and thanked the commission for allowing usage of the Courthouse lawn.
• County Clerk Angie Curley reported she continues to work on the 2021 county budget. Curley also reported filings for the April 2021 Municipal Election begin today. Bills were approved. She balanced with the Collector and Assessor on all monthly collections, additions and abatements.
• Kurt Faigle, with the Road Rally had a phone conference call with the commission regarding the Road Rally on March 19-20, 2021. Roads they are looking to use are 5360, 5600, 5690, 5520, 5530, 4140, 4330 and 4020.
