Several events will take place Saturday to kick off the holiday season and more are planned. Shop local to keep your hard-earned dollars near your hometown.
The Rusty Pig, along with other vendors, will be set up for a Christmas market from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.
Vendors include A Gypsy's Dream, Rockin’ G Western Trading Post, Twisted H Designs, Palmetto + Pine Candle Co., Simply Smile, Heifer House & Co. LLC, Dani Handmade, Decor Creations by Nancy, Tressa Schafer, Rustic Treasures, Steve & Ginger Smith (Ginger’s Not Too Shabby), Gladden Empire Club, and Salem United Methodist Church (SUMC).
SUMC has partnered with The Rusty Pig for several years to feature local, handmade items previously available at the church’s annual bazaar. Several hundred pints of the famous apple butter will be available for purchase at the market.
Food and a coffee bar will also be on-site at 1601 South Jackson.
The church is hosting a home canned goods and bake sale from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m.
Baked goods, soup mixes, home canned jellies, jams, salsa, and kettle corn will be available. Proceeds benefit local charitable causes. The church is located at 403 East Scenic Rivers Blvd.
Smith Valley Holiday Market
Smith Valley Event Barn is host to many events throughout the year. The Holiday Market is planned for 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Saturday at the barn, 2586 Highway HH in Salem.
Vendors will be present with a diverse array of products including plants, lotions, sauces, soaps, hand-painted décor and so much more. Vendors include Everyday Essentials, Curley Bell’s Freeze Dried Treats, Stacy From Gem Stoned, Adorkably Hooked, Pawtree, Richardson Knives, Sugar Pea Sweets, County Road Coffee, Made New Designs, Joe’s Pigskins, Randy Laser Works, Rustic Redo Freshies, Young Living Essential Oils, Plants by Hannah, P2 Squared Farms, and Janet’s Craft Corner.
Open Houses – Nov. 10 and 11
Local businesses are planning open houses Friday and Saturday. See upcoming advertisements for specific hours and holiday specials. Businesses include Gateway Hometown Memories, Beehive Florist & Gifts, Sylvia's Antiques & More, Ashton's Coffee Shop, A Gypsy's Dream, Rockin' G Western Trading Post, and Fig & Ivy/Hometown Sweets.
Parsons Chiropractic will host a vendor event on Friday featuring local vendors. Spinal screenings, Heifer House, Twisted H designs, PaperPie kids’ books and puzzles, Pampered Chef, Barnett Homestead, Made New Designs, The Crafty Doctors, Pigeon Creek Bee Co., permanent jewelry, a hat bar, home décor, freshies, and more will be available in the office at 504C East Scenic Rivers Blvd.
