The Salem Lady Tigers traveled to face the Owensville Dutchgirls on Tuesday night, Jan. 19. A close game in the first half turned into a big Owensville win in the second half, as the Lady Tigers could only manage eight points in the second half en route to a 69-32 defeat.
The Lady Tigers got on the scoreboard first, but the Dutchgirls took the first quarter by a score of 15-9. Tatum Hatridge led Salem with eight points in the quarter, Ashton Bowers scored two points, and Savannah Manthey added one point. Owensville took the second quarter 17-15 to lead 32-24 at halftime. Manthey scored six points for the Lady Tigers in the quarter; Hatridge, Bowers, Avery Erway, and Shelby Botkin scored two points each; and Bella Jadwin added one point.
Salem scored the first four points of the third quarter, but a big run from Owensville to end the quarter gave them a 49-28 lead going to the fourth. Jadwin scored all four Lady Tiger points in the third. Owensville took the final quarter 20-4 to win by the final score of 69-32. Erway and Manthey both scored two points apiece.
The loss drops Salem to 10-6 on the season. This week the Lady Tigers will be in action Tuesday as they host the Licking Lady Wildcats in the Big Cat Classic.
