The Salem High School volleyball team wrapped up a busy week by going 0-2-1 in the Sparta Invitational Saturday, Oct. 17.

In the tournament Salem lost to Miller 25-18, 25-12; lost to Billings 25-21, 27-26, and tied Ash Grove 19-25, 25-15.

Earlier in the week the Lady Tigers defeated Plato 25-22, 25-22, 25-16 Monday, Oct. 12; was beaten in five games by Mountain Grove 25-21, 22-25, 25-20, 20-25, 15-12 Tuesday, Oct. 13 in Salem; lost at Willow Springs 25-18, 27-25, 25-17 Wednesday, Oct. 14, and lost to Ava 25-22, 25-23, 27-25 Thursday, Oct. 15 at Ava.

District Seedings

Salem ends the regular season this week by hosting Houston Tuesday before competing in the Missouri Class 3 District 10 Tournament next week at Mountain Grove.

Mountain View Liberty (20-5-4) is the top-seeded team in District 10 while Ava (12-10-2) is seeded No. 2, Willow Springs (7-11-1) No. 3, Salem (3-20-3) No. 4 and Mountain Grove (3-17-1) No. 5.

In the first round Monday, Oct. 26 Salem meets host Mountain Grove at 4:30 p.m.

Later Oct. 26, Ava plays Willow Springs at 6 p.m. while Liberty faces the Salem/Mtn. Grove winner at 7:30 p.m. in semifinal matches.

The district title match is slated for 6 p.m. Oct. 27.

Against Plato for Salem, Skyler Klapperich had 15 assists, eight digs and seven aces; Shelby Botkin nine assists and four digs; Avery Erway 13 digs, five kills and a block; Makayla Roos seven digs and four kills; Jodi Gotchal two aces, two kills, two blocks and three digs, and Ashton Mink two aces and 15 kills.

Against Willow Springs, Erway had six kills, 10 digs and three blocks; Malerie Workman seven assists, a kill and a block; Shelby Pogue 14 digs; Mink three kills and three blocks; Botkin two aces, four assists and seven digs, and Klapperich 18 digs, seven assists, two kills and two blocks.
