The St. Louis Cardinal Caravan is scheduled to make a stop in Rolla this month.
The Cardinal Caravan #2 will be stopping at Rolla High School Saturday, Jan. 18, with the program beginning at 5:30 p.m. Doors will be open around 5 p.m.
The local Cardinal radio affiliate, KTTR/KZNN, is again the sponsor of the Rolla stop. The Rolla High School Student Council will again be the event host.
In all there will be six Cardinal Caravan groups traveling to stops around Missouri and five other states, weather permitting.
Each caravan will include a group of current players – usually young, up-and-comers – as well as an alumni player and an emcee.
The group scheduled to be part of the Rolla stop includes flamethrowing reliever Jordan Hicks, fellow hard-throwing relief pitcher Giovanny Gallegos, outfielder Lane Thomas and minor league pitching prospect Junior Fernandez; alumni Cardinal players Al Hrabosky and Tom Pagnozzi, and emcee Ricky Horton, himself a former Redbird player. The contingent for the caravans are subject to change.
Rolla’s group will be in Springfield, Mo. Friday, Jan. 17 and in Joplin Saturday, Jan. 18 before traveling to Rolla.
Kids age 15-under can receive one autograph from each current and former player.
