Salem began the Mountain Grove Tournament Saturday morning with a first-round matchup against Seymour and controlled play from start to finish, winning 73-46.

Salem came out of the gates fast with a 22-12 effort in the first quarter. Five Lady Tigers scored in the quarter, with Ashton Bowers scoring seven points, Savannah Manthey five points, Bella Jadwin four points, Shelby Botkin four points and Tatum Hatridge two points.

Bowers led Salem with 21 pts and had six steals, and 4 rebs; Manthey had 15 points and Jadwin 13.

The win improves Salem's record to 6-3 on the season and into a second-round matchup against Dora 3 p.m. Monday.
