salem jamboree canceled

Sullivan High School on Tuesday, July 28 canceled its football jamboree according to athletic directors Phil Karr of Salem and Greg Harlan of St. James, whose schools were both scheduled to take part in the event.

Sullivan pointed to recommendations by the Missouri Football Coaches Association and the Missouri State High School Activities Association (MSHSAA) to not hold jamborees the week before scheduled prep season-openers as a COVID-19 precaution as reasons for its decision.

Sullivan, St. James, Salem and Pacific were to participate in the jamboree, which had been scheduled for Aug. 21 at the turf field at Sullivan High School.

As of Wednesday morning, July 29 Rolla High School is still scheduled to hold its jamboree Aug. 21 at Lions Memorial Field. RHS is slated to host Waynesville, Union and Capital City in the event.
