Salem finished third in the boys’ varsity race at the Ava Invitational, held Oct. 19.
Cabool won the boys’ varsity meet with 39 points, while Sparta was second with 46 and Salem third with 60.
Mountain Grove’s Andrew Norris was boys’ medalist with a time of 18:43, while Houston’s Hunter McKinney was runner-up at 19:29, Cabool’s Josh Shockley third at 19:41 and Sparta’s Talon Phillips fourth at 19:58.
Freshman Alex Diehl paced Salem by finishing fifth overall at 20:21.
Also for the Tigers, Marshal Gollaher was eight at 21:08, Jacob Koontz 12th at 21:30, Kurtis DeHurt 27th at 23:28, Wyatt Thomas 28th at 24:02 and Matthew Parks 30th at 25:16.
In the girls’ race Mountain Grove’s Macey Penner was medalist at 22:26, Sparta’s Isabelle House runner-up at 23:07, Cabool’s Hannah McCrosky third at 25:08 and Salem’s Allison Manthey fourth at 25:08.
In the JV/Middle School boys/girls combined race, Salem’s Andres Vernellus was 26th overall at 15:52.
This week Salem runners will compete in the Missouri Class 3 District 2 Meet Saturday, Oct. 30 at Clever. Other schools in District 2 include Aurora, Ava, Buffalo, Cassville, Clever, Cuba, East Newton, El Dorado, Fair Grove, Forsyth, Hollister, Lamar, Mountain Grove, Mt. Vernon, Osage, Reeds Spring, Seneca, St. James, Strafford, Warsaw and Willow Springs.
