Salem finished in fourth place at the Sparta Tournament, held Saturday.

In tourney play Salem tied with Sparta 26-24, 23-25; lost to Miller 25-10, 25-16, swept past Fordland 25-20, 25-12 and lost to Forsyth 2-0.

And in the third-place match the Lady Tigers fell to SCA rival Ava 2-1.

Earlier in the week at Plato Oct. 11, the Lady Tigers won 25-23, 25-18, 25-15. Avery Erway had 19 kills and 11 digs for Salem while Malerie Workman an ace, eight kills, 15 assists and 12 digs; Skyler Klapperich two aces, six kills, 11 assists and seven digs; Shelby Pogue 12 digs, one ace, four kills; Mickenzie Tarlton eight digs, two aces, three kills, and Kylee Shalbot 14 digs.

At Mountain Grove Oct. 12, Salem lost 25-20, 25-15, 25-23. Statistics are not available.

At home against Ava Thursday, Salem posted a 12-25, 25-15, 15-25, 27-25, 25-15 win. Erway had three aces, 18 kills, two blocks and 25 digs; Klapperich 17 assists, 14 digs and seven kills; Workman one ace, seven kills, 11 assists and 16 digs; Pogue 13 digs, one ace and three kills; Tarlton five kills, one block, and Jaden Flores two blocks and three digs.

This week Salem, 10-14-3, was scheduled to end the regular season at Houston Tuesday before beginning district tournament competition.

District Seeds

Salem has been seeded fourth in the five-team Missouri Class 3 District 9 Tournament, to be held Thursday through Monday at Strafford.

Host Strafford (24-3-3) is the top seed, while Fair Grove (11-13-3) is seeded second, Buffalo (9-15) third, Salem fourth and St. James (5-21-2) fifth.

Salem is to play St. James at 6 p.m. in the first round Thursday.

In semifinal matches Saturday, Strafford is to play the Salem/St. James winner at 3:30 p.m. while Fair Grove faces Buffalo at 5 p.m.

The championship match is slated for 6 p.m. Monday.
