Funeral service for Johnnie Louis Glenn was September 20, 2020 at Wilson Mortuary Chapel, Salem, with Pastor David Gidcumb officiating. Mark Vanoni read the obituary and several family members shared memories.
Interment was in the New Hope Cemetery with Full Military Honors provided by the United States Army and American Legion Post #99.
Pallbearers were Ron Glenn, Kenny Glenn, Mark Glenn, Mark Vanoni, Brian Glenn and Josh Chartier.
Mr. Glenn was born March 23, 1928 in Dent County to John and Hazel (Whitaker) Glenn. He married Betty Daly November 6, 1954. They were the parents of six children. Mr. Glenn died September 16, 2020 in Salem at the age of 92 years.
Survivors include his children, Ron Glenn and wife, Regina, Salem; Kenny Glenn and wife, Tammie, Salem; Tom Glenn and wife, Robin, Licking; Mary Vanoni and husband, Mark, Salem; Mark Glenn and wife, Melissa, Salem; five siblings; 13 grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Preceding him in death were his wife; parents; son, Johnny L. Glenn; and five siblings.
Mr. Glenn served in the United States Army. For his honorable service, he earned a Purple Heart, Bronze Star, Korean War Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal and a United Nations Service Medal. He attended New Harmony Church.
