Funeral service for David Earl “Dusty” Rhoads was November 22, 2019 at Wilson Mortuary Chapel, Salem, with Pastor Chris Hendrix officiating.
Interment was in the Cedar Grove Cemetery, with Full Military Honors.
Pallbearers were Dwayne Martin, J.R. Sellers, Jason Tuttle, Brad Delashmit, John Raulston, Brad Gibbs, Tammy Denney and Tania Connell.
Mr. Rhoads was born January 22, 1947, in Fort Worth, Texas, to Beno and Jewel (Buckelew) Rhoads. He married Barbara Rhoads June 2, 1982. They shared five children. Mr. Rhoads died November 19, 2019 in Salem at the age of 72 years.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Rhoads, Salem; children, Tania Connell and husband, John, Salem; Dwayne Martin and fiancée, Lisa Dunman, Salem; Tammy Denney and fiancé, John Raulston, Salem; JR Sellers and wife, April, Salem; brother, Ben Rhoads and wife, Sue, Oklahoma state; sister, Merle Worden, Florida state; sisters-in-law, Charlene Short, Salem; and Kay Crocker, Texas state; brother-in-law, Jeff Crocker, Texas state; 22 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and a host of extended family and friends.
Preceding him in death were his parents; sisters, Violet Britten, Brenda Weist and Helen Reuddick; daughter, Shelley Shaw; grandchildren, Sarah Cotner, Breana Sellers and infant Hoyt.
Mr. Rhoads served the United States Army during the Vietnam War and earned the Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, National Defense Service Medal and the Sharpshooter (Rifle) Badge. He was a Shriner, Mason and a member of the American Legion.
