James Coffman

Funeral service for James L. Coffman Jr. was June 25, 2020 at Salem United Methodist Church with Pastor Barry Baugh officiating.

Interment was in the Cedar Grove Cemetery.

Mr. Coffman was born May 23, 1939 in St. Louis to James L. and Ora Fay (Padgett) Coffman. He married Mary Hart September 23, 1967. They were the parents of three daughters. Mr. Coffman died June 22, 2020 in Salem at the age of 81 years.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Coffman, Salem; daughters, Elizabeth Breidecker and husband, Rob; Caroline Snider and husband, Brandon; and Molly Zettel; grandchildren, Abbie Woolf and husband, Matt; Matt Russell; Joe Breidecker; Emma Breidecker; Kennedy Snider; Ben Snider; Tyler Breidecker; James B. Coffman; and Judson Coffman; great-grandson, Carter Woolf; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Preceding him in death were his parents; brother, Robert Coffman; and son-in-law, Captain Benton Zettel.

Mr. Coffman was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity and served as President. He spent his career as owner and operator of Roberts-Judson Lumber Company and concessionaire with Mary of Montauk State Park for 20 years. Mr. Coffman served the community well and was involved in a great many organizations, committees and boards including The Bank of Salem, Rotary, Shriners, Royal Order of Jesters, the Masonic Lodge, Salem Area Community Betterment Association, Dent County Developmental Disabilities Board, Salem Housing Authority, Senate Bill 40 Board, and Meramec Regional Planning Commission. He retired as a Lieutenant-Colonel from the Missouri Army National Guard after serving for over 28 years.
