Funeral service for Sandra Kay (Carmack) Schafer was February 19, 2020 at New Harmony Church, Salem, with Pastor David Gidcumb, Pastor Noah Schlag and Josh Schafer officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Wilson Mortuary, Salem.
Interment was in the New Harmony Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Josh Schafer, Joey Schafer, James Schafer, Jake Schafer, Jonah Schafer and Wes Cooper. Honorary pallbearers were Justin Wood and grandsons, Jay, Bennett, Liam, Reed and Nolan.
Mrs. Schafer was born November 23, 1957 in Anutt to Charles “Bud” and Mary (Capps) Carmack. She married Dennis Schafer March 28, 1975. They were the parents of eight children. Mrs. Schafer died February 14, 2020 in Fenton at the age of 62 years.
Survivors include her husband, Dennis Schafer, Salem; children, Josh Schafer and wife, Misty, Rolla; Joey Schafer and wife, Elissa, Salem; James Schafer and wife, Gina, Rolla; Sarah Holland and husband, Richard, Springfield; Jake Schafer, Salem; Jonah Schafer, St. Louis; and Abigail Schafer, Salem; grandchildren, Aly, Jay, Cash, Judah, Bennett, Liam, Reed, Nolan, Gracie, Sadie, Lexie, Lucie, Skye and Lyric; brothers, Charlie Carmack and wife, Betty, Nashville, Tennessee; and Ed Carmack and wife, Carol, Salem; sister, Patsy Cooper and husband, Johnny, Salem; mother-in-law, Jessie Schafer, Salem; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Preceding her in death were her parents; father-in-law, Herschel Schafer Jr.; infant son, Christian Philip Schafer; and special daughter, Kayla Meade.
Mrs. Schafer was a devoted member of New Harmony Church where she served faithfully as the church pianist for over 39 years.
