Funeral service for Maxine Livesay Steelman was February 21, 2020 at James & Gahr Mortuary Chapel, Salem, with Tim Cook officiating.
Interment was in the Cedar Grove Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Amanda Steelman, Samuel Steelman, Joseph Steelman, Livasey Ward, Michael Steelman and Travis Ward.
Mrs. Steelman was born September 11, 1928 in Morgantown, West Virginia, to Dr. Edward A. and Helen (Hungate) Livesay. She married Dorman Lloyd Steelman November 21, 1951. Mrs. Steelman died February 17, 2020 in Salem at the age of 91 years.
Survivors include her children, David Steelman and wife, Sarah, Rolla; and Deborah Macon and husband, Tom, Tampa, Florida; grandchildren, Amanda Steelman, Samuel Steelman, Joseph Steelman, Travis Ward, Michael Steelman and Livasey Ward; great-grandchildren, Lillian Moore, Graeme Steelman, Billie Steelman, Logan Ward and Carter Ward; sister, Alice Boatwright-Vincent; and daughter-in-law, Linda Skeeters Steelman.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husband; son, Donald Alan; and sisters, Betty Cayton and Virginia Allen.
Mrs. Steelman graduated from West Virginia University and moved to Missouri to teach dance at what was then Christian College, now Columbia College. Throughout her life and into her nineties she would continue to dance. She also learned to love the state of Missouri and its agriculture. She was a proud cattle farmer who became certified in artificial insemination. She was passionate about Missouri politics and the Republican Party.
