Not much was discussed in the open session portion of the Board of Aldermen meeting.
The meeting was called to order 7 p.m. Jan. 4.
Public Works Director Mark Nash reported that they are still working hard to get new meters and modules installed where necessary around the city in order to insure accurate readings in the future.
East Ward Alderman Kevin James addressed ongoing concerns brought to him by the public regarding billing inefficiencies the city has. James said that he had people coming to him looking for answers about when the billing issue will be resolved and how the City of Salem plans to remedy the problem. In response, City Administrator Ray Walden emphasized that their top priority is to first assess October’s utility billing and then continue forward with addressing other concerns regarding utility billing.
By 7:15 p.m. the board unanimously voted to go into closed session to discuss city business.
