The annual Dent County Youth Jackpot Show returns to Dent County Commons June 6, featuring a variety of market animals raised by area 4-H and FFA members. The show is normally a run-up to the 4-H/FFA Expo in July.

The Jackpot Show is mandatory for first-time exhibitors. The junior livestock committee pays the $20 jackpot show registration fee for one animal for all Dent County first-timers. Entry forms are due May 29.

Hogs start the day with weigh-in at 7 a.m., followed by goats, lambs and steers. Show classes begin with hogs at 9 a.m., and goats, lamb and steers follow.

Jackpot Show prizes are awarded in 14 categories, including grand champion, reserve champion, market animals, showmanship and ribbons for each weight class division. Buckles are awarded to champions and for showmanship.

Awards will also be presented in a “Dent County Only” show, includingbuckles for grand and reserve champion in each animal category.

An alternative steer clinic will be held for steer exhibitors at a later date.
