A special meeting of Salem R-80 Board of Education was called Friday afternoon. The meeting is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Tuesday. Referenced on the agenda is the hybrid model and athletic event restrictions. 

Salem High School Assistant Principal Conrad Prugh resigned Thursday evening at the Salem R-80 board meeting. Prugh was hired as superintendent at Green Forest R-II at the board’s Jan. 19 meeting. Prugh will finish the school year at the high school.

Margaret Campbell, SHS parent, expressed concerns to the board and district administration regarding the hybrid schedule still being followed by high school students.

Filing for two board seats available in the April election closed Jan. 19. Candidate include Chris Heavin, Ronald Quick, Philip Mercer, and Steven Patterson. Carrie Snider did not file for re-election.

A graduation date was set for May 21, 2021. The tentative backup date is 10 a.m. or 5 p.m. May 22. Further discussion of graduation details was tabled for a future meeting, including number of tickets available per graduate.
