William Lynch Elementary School has a new principal.
The Salem R-80 school board voted unanimously in closed session Monday night to offer Dr. Herman Blau, an education consultant with previous school administrative experience, a contract as elementary principal and federal programs coordinator for 2020-21.
Blau currently owns a consulting business, HMB Systems, where he travels all over the country doing professional development for teachers. Prior to that he was an elementary assistant principal for Waynesville in a K-5 building and a K-2 building. He earlier served as a high school Spanish teacher.
“He’s got prior experience in elementary administration, which we’re excited about,” said Superintendent John McColloch. “He also has a proven track record of working with teachers on improving test scores. We’re also very excited about that.”
Blau earned both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees at Missouri State University and his doctorate at the University of Missouri, with a dissertation about the effect of focused response to intervention on math scores. He and his family currently reside in Waynesville.
