The fourth annual Dancing with The Salem Stars will return to the Salem High School gymnasium Jan. 25.
The popular event has 12 pairs scheduled to perform. Friends, couples, acquaintances, and more are in the competition.
Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and dancers begin performing at 7 p.m.
The event is organized by the Salem Memorial District Hospital Foundation, with funds raised earmarked for capital improvements at SMDH.
Tickets are now on sale for $20. Cost at the door is $25 or bleacher seating for $5.
Dancing this year are Don Sneed and Lorna Mundwiller; Michael Pettus and Lena Pettus; Rick Ragsdale and Melissa Ragsdale; Thom Haines and Marilyn Sweitzer; Brett Capps and Megan Seay; Lane Howard and Rosalie Wright; Shannon Wright and Jaimie Jones; Linda Maledy and Jackie Sisco; Collin Jones and Sarah Heitman; Slayton Parker and Amanda Walker; Lancer Blair and Sierra Hagler; and Larry Sensintaffar and Diane Sensintaffar.
Some of the dancers have participated in previous years, while others are new.
No strangers to dancing, Linda Maledy, a long-time dance instructor in Salem; and Jackie Sisco, a long-time fitness instructor, will join forces with a high-energy routine.
“We are combining a medley of three songs with dance and Zumba. We have laughed a lot and had fun times practicing,” said Sisco.
Dancers provide their own music and create their own routines.
Awards are given for best dancing and people’s choice.
