Margie Moll's unique handcrafted jewelry will be among the
handmade arts and crafts featured during the Spring Creek Artisans
"Pumpkin Day" Saturday at the Bonebrake Center of Nature and
History.
Moll started creating her crafts about three years ago as a
hobby.
Her jewelry is completely handcrafted using natural stone and
gemstones. The wire may be copper, bronze, antique copper or
bronze. Silver plate, gold plate and rose gold plate are also used
and sterling silver by order.
"I have been working with wire for three years and have used the
name "Hotwirez." I can wrap a piece of memorabilia in any color
wire and add gemstones if desired, for a unique personalized gift,"
Moll said.
Moll makes earrings, pendants, rings and bracelets.
"The pattern that develops comes naturally according to the
piece size and shape, so each piece made is completely individual
and one of a kind. The wire is non-tarnish and of very high quality
produced by a manufacturer I use exclusively."
Moll is one of about 15 Artisans who will offer a variety of
original handcrafted creations of fine art from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Saturday at the Bonebrake Center of Nature and History, 601 North
Hickory St. and Rolla Road. For more information about Moll's
crafts call 674-4163 or email margmoll@live.com.
Artisans President Kathy Freeze said the annual Pumpkin Day
event will feature a variety of other handmade collectibles.
Artisan member Russ Biros is carving a pumpkin for Halloween and
we will be selling raffle tickets $1 each or 6 tickets for $5.
The door prize is a children's rocking chair made by Harold
Thomas.
There will be woodcarvings, watercolors, weavings, baskets,
folkart paintings, pottery, treenware, homemade soaps, soft
sculpture dolls and animals, weavings and beaded jewelry.
The items will be displayed throughout the center in a country
store setting and there will be activities throughout the day for
all ages.
The Salem Lutheran Church Youth will serve brats, chips, hot
dogs, hamburgers with all the trimmings and desserts. Pumpkin Day
will also include a K-8th grade youth art display and face
painting.
Salem's Artisans group has been making handcrafted collectibles
and fine art for more than 20 years. The Bonebrake Center of Nature
and History serves as the groups meeting place and contact office
for information about the group.
They lean toward the old, traditional arts stemming from our
American heritage.
Their products are made from scratch. The artisan creates from
raw materials as opposed to assembling ready-made objects.
Founded in 1987 as a non-profit organization, which promotes
both original craft and fine art media, the Artisans group now has
about 15 members, who encourage and share their ideas and
materials.
Artisans members include: Joanne and Russ Bios, Freeze, Bill
Germain, Tana Kettner, Courtney Miller, Moll, Elizabeth and Kevin
Nenno, Wanda Nickles, David Plank, Ellen Reynolds, Shirley Seay,
Davis Spurlock and Harold Thomas.
