Two William Lynch Elementary classes have been quarantined after a student and staff member have tested positive for COVID-19, according to a Wednesday release from Salem R-80.

The Salem R-80 School District was notified Friday that one student at William Lynch had tested positive. The students, their families and other staff members in close contact with that student were notified by the Dent County Health Department as it relates to possible quarantines. 

Also Friday, the district was notified that a staff member at the Upper Elementary tested positive, and the students, their families and other staff members in close contact with that student were notified by the health department as it relates to possible quarantines.

Wednesday, Salem R-80 was notified that one staff member at William Lynch has tested positive for COVID-19. The students, their families, and other staff members in close contact with the staff member are being contacted by the Dent County Health Department as it relates to possible quarantines.

"The Salem R-80 School District will continue to work closely with local health officials to monitor evolving circumstances and revise our plans as needed," the release stated. "We have placed a dashboard on our website where you can view reporting information for the entire district.

"Thank you for your understanding as we continue to work to keep our schools safe, healthy, and open."
