According to a release from the Salem Police Department, between the dates of Aug. 29 and Sept. 11 there were a total of 305 calls for service. Officers with the Salem Police Department conducted 34 traffic stops for various traffic violations with three resulting in a summons or arrest. Officers conducted seven traffic accident and informational investigations.

Of the calls for service and traffic stops, the following reports were generated:

• An officer was dispatched to Walmart at 2:45 p.m. Sept. 3 for a report of a shoplifting. It was reported that a female had stolen $24.70 worth of merchandise from the store. Contact was made with the female subject and she was arrested and later released on summons to appear in court.

• An officer traveled to the 700 block of South Pershing at 10:21 a.m. Sept. 5 to attempt to locate a female that had an active warrant for her arrest. Contact was made with a 65-year-old Salem female, and she was arrested on the active warrant out of the Dent County Sheriff’s Office.

• An officer was dispatched to Grace Community Church for a report of a suspicious person looking in the windows at 11:28 p.m. Sept. 6. Contact was made with the reported subject and it was found the person had an active arrest warrant through the Dent County Sheriff’s Office. As a result, a 35-year-old Salem female was arrested and incarcerated on the warrant.

• An officer traveled at 2 p.m. Sept. 6 to the 500 block of South Jackson to attempt to locate a male subject that had an active capias warrant for their arrest. Contact was made and as a result, a 38-year-old Salem male was arrested and incarcerated on the warrant.

• An officer was dispatched at 11 p.m. Sept. 6 to the 500 block of East Center for a report of a domestic disturbance. It was reported that a male subject had assaulted his girlfriend. As a result of the investigation, contact was made with the male subject, and he confirmed he had assaulted the female. A 33-year-old Salem male was arrested and incarcerated on a 24-hour hold pending the application of warrants.

• An officer was contacted at 6:30 a.m. Sept. 8 by a female subject who was bleeding from the face and reported to have been assaulted by her husband. It was reported that the husband had drove the victim around in their car for an extended period, not letting her leave. It was also reported that on more than one occasion, he had struck her in the face with a handgun. During the investigation, a handgun was located. There were injuries sustained to the victim’s face and she was treated for those injuries. As a result, a 50-year-old Farmington male was arrested and placed on a 24-hour hold pending the application of warrants.

• An officer with the Salem Police Department started an investigation at 1:40 p.m. Sept. 8 into a sex offender failing to register once they moved to Dent County. During the investigation, it was found the residence the male offender was living at was also within 1,000 feet of a school. Contact was made with the 57-year-old Bourbon male, and he was arrested and incarcerated on a 24-hour hold pending the application of warrants.

• An officer with the Salem Police Department was dispatched at 9:28 p.m. Sept. 8 to the Phelps County Jail to pick up an inmate that was incarcerated on a City of Salem Warrant. As a result, a 46-year-old Salem male was arrested and incarcerated at the Dent County Jail.
