Injuries were reported Wednesday as a result of a two-vehicle crash that occurred five miles south of Salem on Highway 19, according to an online report of Troop I of the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

A 2017 Chevrolet Equinox, driven by Erica M. Hopkins, 28, of Salem, was northbound at 5:03 p.m. Wednesday when it collided with the rear of a slowing 2006 Chrysler Town and Country, driven by Regina M. Connell, 33, of Salem.

Connell was ejected from the Chrysler after it was pushed off the right side of the road, struck an embankment and a telephone pole. She received moderate injuries in the crash and was transported by Air Evac to Cox South Hospital in Springfield.

The Chrysler sustained total damage. The Chevrolet crossed the left side of road and struck a fence sustaining extensive damage. Both vehicles were removed from the scene by Whitaker’s Towing.
