Sheriff Bob Wells, Chief Joe Chase, the Dent County Prosecuting Attorney Andrew M. Curley working in coordination with the South Central Task Force and the Highway Patrol concluded a long-term narcotics investigation in Dent County 6 a.m. Monday.

In cooperation with the South Central Task force, the Dent County Sheriff’s Office had a deputy assigned to the Task force for the past 18 months, according to a press release from the sheriff’s department. Over the course of the past year and a half, the South Central Task Force conducted a series of covert narcotics investigations involving the distribution/sales of methamphetamine, heroin, fentanyl and prescription medications.

The investigation involved approximately 50 loosely affiliated individuals in and around the Dent County area. Arrest warrants for each defendant (multiple counts on many) were obtained through the Dent County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office prior to the arrest operations being initiated. Prosecutor Andrew Curley filed 55 distribution charges involving 50 different defendants’ as result of the covert operations in Dent County that took place from Oct. 28 to Monday.

Arrest teams consisted of members of the Dent County Sheriff’s Office, Salem Police Department and Missouri State Highway Patrol. During the arrest operation, officers seized additional drug paraphernalia and narcotics. Those charges will also be referred to the Dent County prosecutor.

The success of this investigation was only possible through the cooperative efforts of all agencies involved. Additional arrest operations stemming from this undercover investigation are being scheduled.

The charges for which the below listed have been arrested, are accusations and are not evidence of guilt. Evidence in support of the charges must be present before a court of competent jurisdiction whose duty is to determine guilt or innocence.
