A Salem woman lost her life Monday as a result of a two-vehicle crash that occurred in Maries County, according to an online report of Troop I of the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
Amanda J. Franklin, 23, was declared deceased on scene at 7:30 a.m. Monday by Maries County Coroner Leo Kloeppel. Her next of kin has been notified.
A highway patrol crash report states Franklin was operating a 1997 Chevrolet Tahoe northbound on Highway 113 at 6:13 a.m. Monday when it crossed the centerline of the roadway 11 miles north of Dixon and struck a southbound 2016 Chevrolet Pickup, driven by Gary R. Vineyard, 50, of Bricktown.
Vineyard received minor injuries in the crash and was transported to Capital Region Medical Center in Jefferson City.
The Tahoe sustained total damage in the crash. The 2016 Pickup sustained extensive damage. Both vehicles were removed from the scene by Plaza Towing.
The incident is Troop I’s first fatality for October and the 26th fatality for 2020.
