Serious injuries were reported Monday resulting from a one-vehicle crash that occurred 15 miles east of Salem on Highway 32, according to an online report of Troop I of the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
A 2008 Hyundai Elantra, driven by Deanna J. Helms, 40, of Viburnum, was westbound at 4:30 p.m. Monday when it ran off the north side of the roadway, overcorrected, ran off the south side of the road and struck an embankment.
Driver Helms received serious injuries and was transported to Mercy Creve Coeur hospital by Air Evac air ambulance. Passenger Brittany D. Helms, 23, of Viburnum, received moderate injuries and was transported to Salem Memorial District Hospital by Iron County Ambulance District.
The Hyundai sustained total damage and was removed from the scene by Abney’s Towing.
