North Wood School Board

The North Wood R-IV Board of Education met Nov. 11.

President of the board Jarred Brown called the meeting to order at 5:57 p.m.

Board members also present were Aaron Brooks, David Massengale, Ron Hedrick, Dave Tiefenthaler, Wes Mobray via Zoom and Jenna Dunn. Jeff Dodson, Lois Stacy, and Mike Manes were also present.

• Aaron Brooks made a motion to lift the mask mandate and Dave Tiefenthaler seconded it. The motion passed 4 – 3. Brooks – yea, Tiefenthaler– yea, Hedrick – yea, Mobray – yea, Brown – nay, Massengale – nay, and Dunn – nay.

Jeff Dodson presented the board with a counseling report.

Other News

• Discussion of facilities and update on the purchase of property.

• Food service report was tabled until the December meeting.

• Jeff Dodson reported that enrollment was at 209 for PK-8th and attendance was at 93.8%.

• April election was discussed.

• Jeff Dodson reported that the devices from the ECF grant arrived and that the money was requested.

• Dodson also reported that North Wood was selected to continue with the process of applying for the Hazard Mitigation Assistance Grant.

• Dodson informed the board that the ESSER III budget was approved.

• Discussion of a 4-day school week.

At 6:50 p.m. the board went into closed session and returned to open session at 7:15 p.m.

The meeting adjourned at 7:18 p.m.
