A Salem man was seriously injured Wednesday resulting from a one-vehicle crash that occurred 12 miles south of St. James on Highway 68, according to an online report of Troop I of the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

A 2003 Jeep Liberty, driven by Michael R. Light, 30, was southbound at 2:03 p.m. Wednesday when control of the vehicle was lost due to wet pavement, it travelled off the right side of the roadway and struck a tree.

Light received serious injuries and was transported by Mercy Lifeline to University Hospital in Columbia.

The Jeep sustained total damage and was removed from the scene by Whitakers Towing.
