The Oak Hill R-I School Board met Jan. 12. The meeting was called to order at 6:35 p.m.
Board members Nathan Ragsdale, Amanda Dooley, Sarah Hoffman, Amanda Sapaugh, Tela Connors and James Reese were present at the meeting. Member Nikki Eaton was absent. Superintendent Aibeen Holland was present.
Open session minutes of the Dec. 12 board meeting were accepted by a 6-0 vote, before an attendance and lunch report was presented for review. Also approved by a 6-0 vote, were payment of Dec. 2022 bills and January payroll, budget and cash reports for December 2022, and Substitute Teacher Monthly Report.
The board voted 6-0 to re-establish an attendance committee for the school.
The amount of $28,644 will be transferred from Fund 1 to Fund 4 for the purchase of a heating and cooling unit for the library and gym foyer, as well as the final payment on the summer construction project. The measure passed 6-0.
The board approved the adoption of the Dent County Multi-Jurisdiction Natural Hazards Mitigation Plan.
A $6,000,000 umbrella policy was approved 6-0, from M.U.S.I.C.
Superintendent Holland updated the board on the award of a $25,000 grant for playground updates. The board tabled a decision on expenditures until the entire board had the opportunity to review the current status of the playground area.
Updates to the foyer area of the school were discussed, and ultimately tabled, until the area can be reviewed by the board at a later date.
The CSIP Review and Development was discussed with no action taken. The Safe Return Plan was reviewed and adopted without change by a 6-0 vote. The board voted 6-0 to close the open session and enter a closed session at 7:50 p.m.
During closed session, the board voted 6-0 to accept the request of Becca White to release her from the remainder of her teaching contract for the 2022-2023 school year.
