Salem City Administrator Sally Burbridge sent a press release Tuesday, Jan. 24, outlining emergency snow routes for the city.
Mayor Greg Parker has announced that the 4th Street Hill will be blocked to traffic and available for sledding Wednesday morning, assuming anticipated snowfall occurs.
Emergency Snow Route Information
In preparation for anticipated snowfall the City of Salem would like to remind our residents of designated Emergency Snow Route policies and streets. Key streets are designated emergency "snow routes" during periods of adverse weather conditions to facilitate the movement of traffic, especially emergency vehicles such as police, fire and ambulance or other emergency vehicles as needed.
We ask our residents to assist in the safe orderly clearing of streets by removing all parked vehicles from the below listed snow routes prior to the storm reaching us. Any vehicles found to be blocking snow ploughs or emergency vehicles may be towed at the owner’s expense or cited for parking violations.
