NOTE: Salem R-80 schools and The Salem News are providing subscriptions, mailed, to every home. The first arrives on Wednesday, April 8. You do not need to sign up with the school or The Salem News office.

As I am sure you are aware, our school closure has been extended through April 24th.  Although we know this extended closure creates a number of hardships, our top priority is the health of our community.

While we will not be able to replicate what takes place in the classroom, we are developing ways to get enrichment activities to our students. Over the period of the closure, Salem R-80 will be working with The Salem News to provide a space in the newspaper for our teachers to provide lessons to our students.

Each week teachers will provide activities for all students that will be published in the paper. These activities are designed to promote critical thinking and support basic skills. Once a week, your child will be contacted by a teacher to check on their progress with the activities. Some activities can be submitted online once completed or progress can be discussed with the teacher if online submission is not available.  It is important that your child spends time each day completing academic activities. Valuable learning time is being lost during this closure and we want to provide our students with as much support during this difficult time as possible. Please call or email with any questions. Your teachers are available for support.
