Notice is hereby given that the Forest Service, United States Department of Agriculture, is considering an exchange of land with Brady and Paig Herd of 507 Barber Road, Chadwick, MO 65629 for land under the authority set forth in the Act of March 1, 1911, as amended, and October 21, 1976, as amended and August 20,
The lands under the jurisdiction of the Forest Service that are being considered for exchange are described
Federal Parcel
The Northeast Quarter of the Southeast Quarter (NE ¼ SE ¼) of Section 31; and the Northwest Quarter of
the Southwest Quarter (NW ¼ SW ¼) of Section 32; all in Township 26 North, Range 19 West, Christian
County, Missouri
The non-federal lands are described as:
Non-Federal Parcel
The North Half (N1/2) of the Northeast Quarter (NE1/4) of Section 9, Township 34 North, Range 3 West, Dent
County, Missouri
Any or all the above described lands may be exchanged provided the values are equal. In the event the values
are not equal, either party may equalize the values by the payment of cash. The amount of cash payment
may not exceed 25 percent of the value of the lands transferred out of Federal ownership.
There are no wetland soils on the Federal or the non-Federal parcel as identified in Executive Order 11990.
Both the Federal and non-Federal parcels lie outside of flood plains as identified in Executive Order 11988. A
review of the properties for prime farmland as defined by Appendix A of Land Use Policy Departmental Regulation 9500-3 under the authority of the Farmland Protection Act, Subtitle I, Title XV, P.L. 97-98 was also completed. There are no acres of prime farmland on the non-Federal tract of the exchange and 6.8 acres of prime
farmland on the Federal tract. The transfer to non-Federal ownership of 6.8 acres of prime farmland is consistent with the direction from Departmental regulation 9500-3, there are no changes planned to the current management of the parcel once transferred to non-Federal ownership.
The Forest Service is interested in acquiring the non-Federal parcel. The exchange proposal is currently being
analyzed to determine whether or not it is in the public’s best interest to acquire the parcel. Persons having
any claims to such properties or having valid objections to this proposed exchange must file their claims or
objections with the Forest Supervisor, Forest Service U.S. Department of Agriculture, Mark Twain National
Forest, 401 Fairgrounds Road, Rolla, Missouri 65401. All comments to this notice of exchange proposal must
be made in writing and must be postmarked or delivered within 45 days after the initial date of publication.
