The 2021 Annual Salem Area Chamber of Commerce Banquet was held Nov. 9 at Wilson Family Center. Past chamber presidents were honored and each spoke briefly about their time serving the chamber.
Current president Tod Kinerk was the master of ceremonies. Chamber director Tabatha Utley and about 60 others were in attendance. Past presidents in attendance were William Bennett (1977), Tod Kinerk (2019-2021), Jo Ann Wells (2004), Scott Shults (2005), Dan Adams (1993), Sherman Odom (1975), Catherine Wynn (2014-15), Jamie Homeyer (2006), Pat Tackett (1992), and Ed Pratt (1984). Several others who could not be present sent statements, including Ralph Williams (2001), John Maledy (2007), Dustin Howard (2008), Stacy Medlock (2012) and Kim Owen (2018).
Each attendee took a few moments to discuss memories and achievements from their time with the chamber. Past presidents in attendance spanned 46 years.
The chamber began in 1930 with president L.N. Coffman at the reigns. Decades of volunteers on the chamber board have given time and effort to better the community.
A dinner was served by Main Street Café and entertainment was provided by The Bradford Family. Craig, Joella, Susanna, Charity, Ethan, Jonathan, Laura, and Caleb Bradford are a talented family of musicians who delighted guests with music of brass handbells, the harp, violins, cello, piano and their voices.
