The recent wintry cold snap has taken a toll on everyone, including our furry and feathered friends. The night of Feb. 6, it dropped to 10 degrees in Dent County, and temperatures stayed below freezing until Friday’s slight warmup to 34. Saturday climbed to 43, and this week is supposed to get near a balmy 60. If you are counting, that is 12 days without getting above freezing, with seven or so inches of snow to go along with it. Sunday, Feb. 14 and 15 never got above 6 degrees and the low was -7. The nighttime high temp from Feb. 12-16 was 6 degrees. During these periods of cold you can help animals with a few well-placed sunflower seeds and some legally-placed cracked corn.
