Love Thy Neighbor Dent County, a joint effort and ministry of Dent County churches to share God’s love with the people of Dent County, is moving forward after planning meetings held earlier in the year.
LTN seeks to help homeowners with home repairs that they may physically or financially unable to complete. Projects may include roof repairs, decking repairs, wheel chair ramps, yard cleanup, exterior cleanup/painting and other exterior construction. The work is completed at no cost to the homeowner.
This summer will be the first year for Love Thy Neighbor Dent County as teams will complete work Aug. 8-12. During this week, volunteers will divide into construction teams, care teams, kitchen staff and runners in an effort to complete several home repair projects. This ministry is funded by donations from churches and businesses.
“LTN is a wonderful opportunity to show the residents of Dent County that God loves each of us, and He wants each of us to love those around us,” said David Hancock, First Baptist Church, one of the volunteers assisting with the week-long event. “All donations of finances and volunteer time will go to show our neighbors throughout Dent County that we care about them.”
To provide the repairs at no cost to neighbors, donations must be obtained before the August work week. LTN Dent County will host a Fundraiser Cook Out on Saturday at Grace Community Church. Hamburgers and hot dogs will be served with a side and dessert from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.
As plans are made for the project, there are several ways to help or receive assistance.
Dent County residents who would like to apply for home repair can download an application from ltndent.com. Due to unknown ordering time for materials, homeowner applications should be turned in as soon as possible. The deadline is June 25 to be considered for this year’s project week.
Volunteers packets can be found at ltndent.com and must be filled out for each volunteer. Applications are due June 12.
