Junior Kolson Seay in the shot put and sophomore Caden Camden in the pole vault both reached the finals of their respective events and ended with seventh-place finishes at the Missouri Class 3 Track and Field Championships, held Saturday at Mizzou’s Walton Stadium in Columbia.

Due to the tornado that ravaged Jefferson City late Wednesday night, including heavy damage to the state track meet venue at Jefferson City High School, the Missouri State High School Activities Association moved the Class 3-5 Championships at three different locations and made each state meet a one-day event Saturday. While Class 3 was held at Walton Stadium, Class 4’s state meet was held at Washington High School and Class 5 at Columbia Battle High School.

For the Tigers, Camden placed seventh in the pole vault with a personal-best vault of 12 feet, nine inches, while Seay got his meet-best throw – and season PR – of 47-11 ¾ on his first attempt of the day, which was good enough to get him on the all-state podium in seventh place.

Salem’s third state participant, senior Logan Ousley, did not advance to the finals in the long jump, finishing 14th overall with a 19-9 ¼ leap.
