Salem opened its season and the Dylan Wyrick era Friday night in St. James with a 32-6 win over the non-conference foe.
The host Tigers didn’t score until three minutes, nine seconds left, as Salem controlled from the outset.
The win came against district foe St. James and in the debut of Wyrick, in his first year as Salem coach and his first game as a head coach.
Salem plays its home opener next Friday against Dexter, and the game will be preceded by the annual football parade that begins at the Dent County Courthouse and ends at the football field. Game time is 7 p.m.
