There is no better, more economical way to reach residents of Dent and surrounding counties than a combination of The Salem News and The Extra. We literally deliver. Home and post office box delivery through the U.S. Postal Service and single-copy sales reach about 90 percent of the households in Dent County, which has a population of about 15,000. We also reach portions of Texas, Phelps, Iron, Reynolds and Crawford counties. The Extra reaches 8,300 households a week, while The Salem News has a circulation of 3,800 and is published Tuesdays and Thursdays. Considering our region has an average household size of 2.5 people, that's potential for 20,750 consumers. Whether it's a $5 per week spot in The Salem News business directory or a full-page ad in The Extra, we have a price to fit your budget.

Donald Dodd, Owner, Salem Publishing Company

The Salem News has been serving Dent County since 1905.

THE SALEM NEWS

The newspaper has been family owned and operated from the beginning, with a keen interest in the community. Our locally owned newspaper offers a wide variety of news, features and commentary, a TV Guide, sports page and church page. The Salem News reaches over 70 percent of occupied households in the county through U.S. Postal Service delivery, single-copy sales at local outlets and pass- around rates, according to industry averages.

THE EXTRA

The Extra is inserted in each Tuesday edition of The Salem News, and also widely distributed separately for free to homes and post office boxes through the U.S. Postal Service. Reaching over 90 percent of Dent County households, no other advertising media comes close to effectively reaching so many residents. The Extra is primarily advertising.

Display Advertising

The more display advertising you buy in The Salem News and The Extra, the better the value. Small space advertising is effective and a large part of our business. We can print your ad in full color. We have volume discounts. The more ad inches you run in a month, the more the savings. We also have a Thursday special, run an ad one time in The Extra and repeat that ad in the prior or succeeding Thursday edition of The Salem News for a whopping 40 percent off.

Inserts

Stand-alone inserts are another choice for advertising in The Salem News and The Extra. Placing inserts in one of these products means a lot more of them will make it to the home or business of your customer. The Salem News and The Extra are invited guests, delivered by the U.S. Postal Service. We don't rely on hit-and-miss free distribution.

Classifieds

Want to sell a used lawn mower, a car or hold a yard sale? You can't beat the classified prices. A 17-word ad in two consecutive issues will cost you just $6. Classifieds are also great for business specials, services, employment, real estate and public notices.

Other Advertising Opportunities

Sponsorships are an important part of bringing news of Dent County to you. Our popular church and high school sports pages are good examples. We also publish a weekly TV Guide, monthly wedding, engagement and anniversary page and numerous special sections during the year. Cards of thanks, birthday wishes and in memories are just a few of the ways individuals and non-profit groups can reach readers. Advertising is also available on our website.

Missouri Press Display and Classified Ads

A 2-column by 2-inch display ad can be placed in approximately 209 newspapers across the state,941,190 circulation, with one simple order through The Salem News. The ad can be placed in half the state's participating papers for just $500. For classifieds, the rate is $300* for one insertion of 25 words or less. Classifieds reach about 2.25 million Missouri readers in about 209 newspapers-1,050,211 circulation. *These rates will be effective January 1, 2006
