Funeral service for U.S. Army Retiree Arthur “Art” Lee Pilkington was June 28, 2019 at Wilson Mortuary Chapel, Salem, with Chaplain Cornelius Muasa officiating.
Interment was in the Round Pond Cemetery with Full Military Honors.
Pallbearers were the United States Army.
Mr. Pilkington was born June 4, 1952 in Oneonta, Alabama. He married Lauren Dian Derrick February 7, 1972. They were the parents of three children. Mr. Pilkington died June 24, 2019 in Rolla at the age of 67 years.
Survivors include his wife, Dian Pilkington, Salem; daughter, Christine Pilkington, Salem; grandchildren, Jeremy Pilkington, Gaige Pilkington, Allie Click and Alexis Click; great-grandchild, Jedi Click; brothers, James Forester and wife, Cathy, Salem; Anthony Hodges and wife, Shonda, Rolla; Robert Hodges and wife, Becky, Alabama; sisters, Patricia Shaw, Salem; Avon Shaw and husband, Johnny, Salem; Evon Wallace, Alabama; good friend, Leon Shaw; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Preceding him in death were his mother, Pearl Lovell; sons: Gideon Pilkington and Clyde Pilkington; brother, George Pilkington; sister-in-law, Doris Pilkington; mothers-in-law: Willa Dean Wisdom and Betty Derrick; father-in-law: Marco Derrick; grandmother, Nora Presley; grandparents-in-law, Gid and Ida Lou Derrick; great-grandmother-in-law, Minnie Polk.
Mr. Pilkington served in the United States Army and retired after 20 years of service. He received many decorations, medals, ribbons and awards including, Meritorious Service Medal 2D, Army Commendation Medal 2D, Army Achievement Medal 4th, Army Good Conduct Medal 6th, National Defense Service Medal, Overseas Service Ribbon, Army Service Ribbon.
