Funeral service for Donald “Don” Gale Watson was July 3, 2019 at Wilson Mortuary Chapel, Salem, with Pastor Jimmy Lewis and Pastor Mike Cronk officiating.
Interment was in the Asher Cemetery, St. James, with Military Honors.
Pallbearers were Donald Watson, Matthew Pollard, David Payne, Eric Ayers, Robbie Payne, Shawn Pollard, Ben Martin and Aaron Pollard. Honorary Pallbearers were Joey Alexander and Michael Alexander.
Mr. Watson was born June 24, 1938 in Caledonia to Marvin and Stella (Reeves) Watson. He married Irene Treece May 4, 1957. They were the parents of seven children. Mr. Watson died June 28, 2019 in St. James at the age of 81 years.
Survivors include his wife, Irene Watson, St. James; children, Debbie Gregory, Pensacola, Florida; Wanda Watson, Navarre, Florida; Brenda Pollard and husband, David, Salem; Dillard Watson and wife, Mandy, Salem; Anna Martin and husband, Richard, St. James; and Colleen Watz and husband, Derek, Pacific; sister, Minnie Jordan, Salem; brother, Oscar “Bud” Watson, Eldon; 17 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Preceding him in death were his parents; son, Don Watson Jr.; grandson, Chris Pollard; great-granddaughter, Emma Casey; and aunt, Fanny Hurt, whom Don was raised by.
Mr. Watson served in the United States Army and was saved at Calvary Temple Church.
