Funeral service for Harvie G. Thomas, of St. James, was October 12, 2019 at James & Gahr Mortuary, Salem, with Pastor David Gidcumb officiating.
Interment was in the Sligo Cemetery with Full Military Honors.
Pallbearers were Bob Payne, Scott Jones, James Payne, Steve Thomas and Larry Chapman.
Mr. Thomas was born July 3, 1922 in Irondale to Wilburn A. and Eva (Beers) Thomas. He married Verena Chapman January 2, 1946. They adopted a son. Mr. Thomas died October 7, 2019 at the age of 97 years.
Survivors include his son, Jonathan Thomas and wife, Angela, Walland, Tennessee; brother, Elwood Thomas, Belgrade; sisters, Mary Martin, Clovis, California; and Lurie Belfield, Belleview; grandchildren, Josiah, Ashlyn and Hannah; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Preceding him in death were his wife; parents; brothers, Earl and Herman Thomas; sisters, Marie Warden, Violet Jacobs, Kathern Barr and Mae Dockins.
Mr. Thomas served in the Marine Corps during WWII at Pearl Harbor.
