Memorial service for Billy Roy Bland was October 5, 2019 at Pilgrims Rest Cemetery, with Pastor Nathan Fulk officiating and Full Military Honors. Arrangements were under the direction of Wilson Mortuary, Salem.
Mr. Bland was born July 25, 1943 in Rector to Noel and Mildred (Patterson) Bland. He died September 29, 2019 at the age of 76 years.
Survivors include his brother, Kenneth Bland and wife, Gaye, Timber; sisters, Connie McClain, Florida state; and Eula Blake, Salem; special nephew, Chris “Stimey” Bland; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Preceding him in death were his parents; and brother, Johnny Bland.
Mr. Bland served in the United States Army from April 1965 to March 1967. He then served in the United States Air Force for four years. He earned the Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Sharpshooter (Rifle) and Driver and Mechanic Badge. Mr. Bland was also a member of the Eagles Club.
